Magic Card Game

The term magic card game usually refers to the game Magic: The Gathering or MTG. This is a card game created by the wizards of the coast that has been very popular for many years. The game combines aspects of fantasy with the trading card format of a Pokémon style card game. This is ironic, as MTG actually predated Pokémon by several years.

In MTG a player buys collectible card sets to try and build a useful array of cards, or a deck. The player then uses the deck in a game with one or more other players. The types of cards associated with MTG borrow heavily from fantasy lore, such as dungeons and dragons. The game plays out as a strategy game, with cards countering other cards, and the goal of the game being a complete victory over the opponent’s set of cards.
